I often get asked about the Return on Investment (ROI) of ChatWMS. ROI is a very important consideration when thinking about any solution -- especially one that leverages LLM technology. What measurable effect will it have on your organization? To be honest, there are not many examples of practical LLM solutions. Everybody recognizes the opportunities with them, but going from a cool proof-of-concept to a production-ready application is more elusive.
We created ChatWMS based on our own experiences. Once we learned the skills to interact with our data directly, we found that we could answer questions that we didn’t even know to ask before. We began to get answers to our questions more quickly. Our ability to make data-driven decisions improved, and the operation improved as a result. But most importantly, it empowered us to think about things differently. We went from only being able to see the operation from the floor, to seeing it from the mezzanine.
When talking about the ROI with ChatWMS, I like to relate it to the ROI that I experienced:
- Immediate efficiency boost for direct ChatWMS users
- Increase in data-driven decision-making and sweeping operational benefits
- Fundamental decision-making and problem-solving changeÂ
Let's walk through each of these points.
The most immediate effect from ChatWMS is an efficiency boost to all direct ChatWMS users. You can interact with ChatWMS from any device and from anywhere. Cellaware Technologies alluded to this in a previous post about seeing a pallet sticking out into the aisle. Want to know who the last person was to interact with that location? Just ask ChatWMS from your phone or tablet. The time you would've spent walking back to your desk and searching for this information in the WMS can now be used to do something else. Just about every request for WMS data can now be resolved by simply asking ChatWMS. This gives you a lot of time back in your day.
It will not take long before ChatWMS will start to benefit your overall operations.Â
Your frontline leaders will be empowered to make more data-driven decisions. Did you ever wonder which customer is causing you to case pick the most?Â
Or which supplier's receipts result in the most OS&Ds?Â
Getting answers to these questions could lead to insights and ideas on how to improve operations. You don’t have to wait for somebody to create a report anymore -- you can just ask ChatWMS.
The most important impact of ChatWMS is the effect on your organization.Â
Your frontline leaders are closer to and more knowledgeable about the operation than anybody else. With ChatWMS, they can combine their experience and intuitions with real data. This will enable a smarter operation - one that can take more ownership in identifying problems, finding solutions, and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives.
